Attached is a collage I put together this morning of photos I took on Monday of the Cub Scouts of Troop # 3123 on an utterly gorgeous spring evening. I got out there at 5:30, thanks to your info, before most of the kids and their families arrived and met Sasha, the Parks Department team member in charge. It took nearly a half hour before all the families made it to the site, but I had a great time watching the kids get used to using the tools, via playing with them – what better way to learn?
I won’t put the collage up on the bulletin board until and unless I get permission from the Cub Scout Troop leader, who came a little late and was very busy once he got there, spraying kids’ ankles to ward off ticks.
I’m hoping you can send this to the Tina Stephens and eventually relay it to the troop. I want to make sure that everything in the caption is correct.
Thanks for the heads-up on this event. I felt privileged to get a chance to thank the participants for their efforts in person – on behalf of the Friends of the Woods. I wish I’d had enough time to walk out to Old Ellsworth with them, but it was heartening to see the scouts, girls and boys together these days, and their families pitch in!
We would welcome more events like this.
