During recent January trail work in the city-owned portions of the woods, a boardwalk on the south side of the marsh was damaged by the forestry machinery. The Parks Department promised to replace it and on March 31, Leah Jones, NAP Coordinator, reported that the work had been completed. On April 1, as Park Steward, I walked out to see it and took a photo of the new bridge/boardwalk. At that time, before April 2nd rainstorms, it was one of the few muddy parts of the trail. That area is also the site of a NAP Workday last fall to encourage native wildflowers by cutting out buckthorn and other invasive shrubs. I walked all the way to the Turnberry subdivision and returned home via the Mitchell sidewalk, which now runs through the construction area for the new Mitchell school. Thanks to NAP and the AA Parks Department for following through!
