another 8 feet on the boardwalk on the south side of the pond

Workday – March 7, 2026

Who: Anyone who’s willing and able to help. Scarlett students are welcome to participate but you must bring a parent.

Where: Meet at the bench near the showcase at the main entrance to the woods.

Why? spreading wood chips, trash cleanup along old Ellsworth and removal of invasive buckthorn and honeysuckle. Maybe even building boardwalks.

What to bring:

  • Wood Chips: wheelbarrows and shovels (if not frozen),
  • Clean up: Plastic garbage bags and gloves,
  • Invasives: loppers, hand saws.
  • Boardwalk construction: Battery powered drills and saw, wheelbarrow, shovel and hammer.

When: Saturday March 7, 2026 at noon – 2 pm.

Never done this before: Welcome! We’ll show you what to do and how to do it!

Wear warm clothes, gloves and shoes.

What we did: Michael and I (Phil) added the final 8 feet to the boardwalk/puncheon on the south side of the pond. It immediately was used by a couple looking at vernal ponds in the woods.

We still need to make an on ramp for this end of the boardwalk.
