Widening the Paths

WIDENING THE PATHS on City owned property – On January 22, 2025, Judy receive a “heads-up” email message from Leah Jones, Outreach Assistant at NAP, that “Park ops is out at Scarlett Mitchell Nature Areas today to mow the trails.”  Manfred saw the crew working near the Platt Road entrance and stopped to talk to the person driving the mower. Both portions of the city-owned property were “mowed” over the course of two days. I went out later in the week to see what they had accomplished, and mowing is an understatement!  Most of the trails are widened to a width of 8 to 10 feet, except for a portion of the trail south of Colonial Square where the equipment was blocked by the position of larger trees along the trail. There’s still a lot of debris on the trails, which they have said would be cleaned up.  It is believed that the city used the FAE Forestry Mulcher to widen the trails.
