Ann Arbor Public School Nature Areas

The Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) have 6 woods/nature areas associated with schools.

AAPS owns the central property containing the loop trail of Scarlett Mitchell Woods.  Scarlett Mitchell Woods is used by the two schools as a “living laboratory and outdoor classroom.”

The Freeman Environmental Education Center is also owned by AAPS. The Freeman Center is a 40 acres site northeast of Ann Arbor just off Dixboro Road. Beyond the traditional environmental education, the Freeman Center is available for students to use as a laboratory for environmental experiments.
