Our second Spring Unfolding Event in Mitchell-Scarlett Woods yesterday (4-29-23) was a gratifying success! The turnout brought us just enough folks to get the targeted area pretty well cleaned up in a little more than an hour. Thanks again to Alex Advey, Joey Barker, Gwynne Fisher, Chris Herdell, Bill McNitt, Luisa Ponvert, Judy Schmidt and Manfred Schmidt for showing up and pitching in. Don’t want to forget Red, Bill’s 12 year old basset hound, for adding her calm presence to the company. Ordinarily I would have suggested leaving the dog at home, but Red proved my prejudices wrong.
Don’t forget the third and last event in the 2023 Spring Unfolding Series. On Saturday, May 13, we’ll be gathering again – at 10:00 a.m. – to see how many different migrating warblers (and other birds) we can find. The event is called MAY IS FOR THE BIRDS! Bring binoculars if you have them. As always, wear sturdy shoes and long pants. It’s also a good idea to spray your ankles against ticks.
Meet at the main entrance to Mitchell-Scarlett Woods, by the bench and showcase, just south of the bus turnaround loop. Cross your fingers for decent weather. Hope to see you there!
